Yet while travel is good for the soul, it is sometimes less than friendly to your skin’s complexion. If you’ve recently returned from a tropical destination, it’s important to support your skin properly to prevent any damaging after effects. Here are a few tips to help you do so:

 

Tip #1: Focus on replenishing and rehydrating

Upon returning home from the beach or any warm destination, it's likely that your whole body may be recovering from heat exposure, and one of the most common side effects of this is dehydration. Knowing that your skin needs lots of water - both internally and externally - to promote optimal function, replacing lost fluids should be a top priority. Tip #2: Incorporate ingredients that target sun damage

However, once you return home it is equally important to maintain good habits and continue to apply your favourite sunscreen daily. This will ensure that you prevent premature aging and other serious conditions like skin cancer.

 

Bonus Tip: What to do if you burn

It happens to the best of us. If in spite of your best efforts, you find yourself bringing home a sunburn as a souvenir, your best bet is to focus on calming and soothing your skin. Think lots of aloe vera, and gentle moisturizer and a cool bath to troubleshoot peeling.

 

You might also consider incorporating cold therapy in the form of cold cloth or a chilled jade roller for the face.
