How to know if you have Dry Skin:

Dry skin is due to a lack of moisture and can appear flaky, itchy, and tight. To determine if you have dry skin, you can perform the "barefaced test" by washing your face and then going about your day without applying any products. After 30 minutes If your skin feels tight and uncomfortable, and appears flaky or itchy, you likely have dry skin. Additionally, you can also check for dryness by pinching the skin on the back of your hand, if the skin does not bounce back quickly and instead remains wrinkled, this is another indication of dry skin.


How to Support Dry Skin:

Managing dry skin involves keeping it moisturized and protected, as prevention is key.

1. Using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser to clean your skin instead of soap, which can be drying.


2. Applying a moisturizer immediately after a shower, when the skin is still damp, to trap in moisture. Adding a mid day moisturize in the dry winter months is very helpful.


3. Using a humidifier in your home to add moisture to the air, which can help keep your skin hydrated.


4. Avoiding hot showers or baths and instead using lukewarm/warm water, as hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils. Our natural oil production decreases as we age so support the skin now.


5. Exfoliating gently to remove dead skin cells, but be careful not to overdo it, as this can further dry out the skin. Look for an AHA (Glycolic or Lactic Acid) exfoliant if you tend to be heavy handed with physical scrubs.


6. Avoiding harsh chemicals and products that can irritate the skin, such as alcohol-based toners, astringents (witch hazel) fragrance.


7. Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated from inside. Try adding lemon to WARM not HOT water.


8. Using sun protection to prevent sun damage, which can dry out the skin.


Sample Dry Skin Routine Steps:

AM

1. Gentle Gel Cleanser – Massage into skin with warm water, pat damp.
2. Vitamin C Serum – Pat into skin, allow to fully absorb - 60 sec
3. Mist Face with Dewy Mist or Hydrating Rose Toner
4. Apply Moisturizing Face Cream to damp skin (face, neck, chest)
5. Apply Mineral SPF 30 +

PM

1. Gentle Gel Cleanser – Massage into skin with warm water, pat damp.
2. Mist Face with Dewy Mist or Hydrating Rose Toner
3. Radiance Serum – Apply to damp skin, allow to fully absorb - 60 sec
4. Mist face again
5. Apply Moisturizing Face Cream to damp skin (face, neck, chest)
6. Apply Luminous facial Oil once moisturizer has fully set, I like to add half a dropper into my palm and then pat into my skin.
